Conclusion about the course: Les TIC per a l'alumnat del segle 21.

Having concluded the course, I have to say that my expectations  have been accomplished. I find these new digital resources more motivating for the students as well as  for the teachers. It's a new way of teaching which uses the "virtual world" as a way to provide students with new and intriguing information.The applications we've seen in this course are also very captivating. I only had time to use a few of them but I'm confident that I'll use them in class. It's true that teachers should start using new methodologies to make school subjects more intellectually stimulating to students. All in all, it has been a good way for me to introduce some  methodological changes. I have a lot to learn but this has been a good beginning.

What we did in class

We did a very interesting exercise in class with my students of 3rd of ESO. I showed them a very nice story from Youtube and  I let them watch the whole story except the end. They got very nervous and upset when I stopped it. Their faces were really funny! Before showing  the end of the story  I asked them  to do a brainstorming using the application Wordle. A lot of words to describe the story occured them and afterwards, they wrote the ending of the story.I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised because some of them had a really  creative imagination.
 I would like to thank  the teacher who has shown me a beautiful and never-ending world of digital and technological applications, as well as this story I'm going to show you. Thank you Mita. You've opened  me a "digital way" which will never be closed again.

Applications chosen

I find all the applications we have  learned in the course very useful but the ones I've used with my students this week are :My Voki and the Words Cloud. I asked my students to do a writing assignment. The objective for the assignment was my students to write an opinion based essay and I wanted them to send it to me by email. I was very surprised to discover that my students had no idea how to "share a file" ,so this was my first goal: teach them how to share a file and send it to me. Then, thinking about the applications we've  learnt in the course I decided that it could be a very good idea to send my students a Voki as a response to their email.I thanked them for the writing and I let them know that I had recieved their emails. As you can imagine, they were shocked to see their "virtual teacher" talking to them. In addition to the "technological innovation", the fact that the avatar was taller, blonder and prettier than their everyday teacher made it even better.

Hi everybody! My name is Xisca and I teach english and german in La Salle Manacor. I've been working as a teacher for thirteen years and I hope to continue educating for a long time. I teach in secondary school so my students are exciting and friendly teenagers as you can imagine.
For six years I lived in Barcelona studying at Universitat Central de Barcelona. My time in Barcelona was truly a great experience.
It is my belief that it's possible to make the teaching and learning experience more motivating. New technologies can help enhance the learning experience for students because technology has become an important  part of students life's today. Using internet and computers  is something normal for young people so it should be normal that the use of these resources become part of our way of teaching.
Let's try to become "connected with the world" as well as with our students!
